Continuing the journey into groove and time. This course is all about developing feel, by improving timing and working on how to play “in the pocket”.
Through studying the playing of some of the most influential drummers of the last decades, learners will experience and develop a deeper understanding of playing drums with feeling. Explore a range of techniques to turn any ‘static’ drum exercise into something that sounds and feels great to play.
Songs with examples of distinctive time feel and interpretation will be chosen by your teacher to demonstrate real life musical examples. This will be supported by a range of exercises covering the topics in the course, focusing on hands, feet, and whole body movement and mindset.
If this course is to be combined with a graded exam, the song choices will reflect the content and level of the relevant grade exam.

Course level: Improver
Drummers at Improver level will build upon the foundations already achieved in the subject, and develop their knowledge, understanding and skills. Learners will become more familiar with the musical styles, coordination, dynamics, control, and vocabulary in a broad spectrum of drumming situations.
